Over the years, I've had a number of blogs and assorted websites. Spanned across various hosting providers and platforms, leading to disuse and lack of focus. I've consolidated my domains, dropped the old hosting providers and got a shiny new droplet from Digital Ocean to play with, as well as a renewed sense of focus.  I've saved a couple of my old blog posts to repost here, but for the most part, it's a clean start.

Why a Digital Ocean droplet?

In my day job I work with Amazon Web Services EC2 and Rackspace cloud servers (and good, old fashioned physical hardware), both are fine services; and I had originally intended to use AWS for myself, but the price point and thought of a new toy -- service -- to play with, was to much to resist.  So far I am very happy with Digital Ocean, but I am only a couple days into it at this point.

It feels good to have an actual server, even if it is a VM in the cloud, to do what I wish with.  It's so much nicer than having to use the various web control panels that permutate the multitude of web hosting companies out there.

So, what can you expect me to post?

For the most part, I imagine this will be filled primarily with technical notes, anything that I think I may forget myself, or deem to be of use to others, I may even set some time aside to write some more in depth tutorials.  Although, I know its bad for SEO to stray from a sites -- search engine assessed -- topic, I will probably write on other topics and news of interest for myself as well.
